Fear: A Human Problem with an American Solution

Today was to be a day for remembering the lost, respecting the brave, standing in solidarity with the wounded, and declaring that evil shall not be tolerated. Then, things changed. Today became a day of disclosure and revelation courtesy of those that peddle hypocrisy in the name of virtue.
Strangely enough, I find myself giving thanks to the main stream media. First, thank you for acknowledging the truth, mass shootings are more than political matters. Second, thank you for demonstrating to everyone the primary motivation of those that mean to manipulate the dominate culture, fear of the unknown. (Of course, I’m assuming the headlines represent more than a short-term desire for vanity and cash.)
The mass shootings seen across America are more than political issues. They are also deeply human. We know this to be true by intuition and belief. It’s true because in each instance lethal force was used to commit morally reprehensible acts against what was personally sacred. Each time, within minutes, lives were taken without cause, parent-child relationships were ravaged, marriages were ended, property was destroyed, and trust was violated. No subjective political fix can make right these absolute wrongs. No call to action can become the equivalent of what was ripped away.
The anger across America, once focused at the state of government, is being further aggravated with fear. Angry voices shouting for power are now being manipulated by violent actors. As a result, the calls for a solution have changed and are getting louder. This is the political power of terrorism.
If a government issues a performance guarantee concerning a social issue, then that government is lying. The lie is more profound when the guarantee requires the full corporation of exterior governments and peoples. For the guarantee to have value, the government must force a uniform outcome for all starting conditions. Social guarantees are not compatible with personal liberty, social freedom, or the American way. A guarantee that is not redeemable is of no value. Therefore, a government issued performance guarantee is of no value.
The designers of the dominate culture want us to believe that this is a temporary condition of the government system. In other words, the government guarantee was not realized because somebody else screwed it up for everyone. In our souls we know this is false. The puppet masters, the powers that are hiding in the shadows, want us to believe that this condition can be addressed with a rule change, their rule change. Once changed, the guarantee is back in force. For example, enact a new gun law and the scourge of gun violence will end, or demonize the NRA and you will be safe again. This is madness, a magician’s sleight of hand.
We can no longer deny that the government system designed to prevent these disasters did not perform as expected. In fact, on more than one occasion, this very system was used to facilitate the death we sought to avoid. This failed system is of our own making. Now, we act like we don’t know what to do about it.
“There is no more stupid or more dangerous way of making decisions than by putting those decisions in the hands of people who pay no price for being wrong.” – Thomas Sowell
It’s time to abolish what does not work, realign the basics, and smartly start again.
The Problem is Internal – It’s Us not Them
Simply stated, America is reaping what it has sewn. The nature of the world is becoming increasingly evil. For America to combat that evil, it must become increasingly good. However, America has fallen short and terror has its desired effect.
The American discourse is rife with madness. Right is called wrong. Evil is called good. Dissent is shouted down. Murder is called choice. Name calling is commonplace. Feminine grace is shunned. Masculine strength is mocked. Marriage is equated to a personal contract. Truth is subjective. Honor is scarce. All permitted or promoted by the government with the consent of the People.
Over the past 40 years America has seen remarkable change. Some change has been for doing good; whereas, some change has been done for feeling good. Regardless of where you are on the spectrum, it’s possible to cite examples of both and provide reason for the distinction. Yet, the fundamental truth remains; objective truth is being replaced with subjective opinion. In increasing frequency, feelings and identity are being raised above morality and absolutes.
Today we live in a nation that is upside down: we abort our next generations; we marry in haste and divorce at will; we recognize basic needs while discouraging personal charity; we observe murder and blame triggering; we demand equality by quota; we condone lawlessness as an act of free speech; we appease wrong-doing to further understanding; we embrace perversion as a legal distinction; we protect one religion as a civil right and denounce another as moral imperative; we establish “safe space” by silencing others; we tax everything that moves (even after we are dead); we defend other cultures as if they are American equivalents; we advocate for solutions that disregard human nature and long-standing ideals; we substitute laws for morality; when government fails we reward it by make it more powerful; and the list goes on and on.
Why has this happened? The answer has very little to do with political ideology. It has nearly everything to do with a failure to pass down the intrinsic worth of America and Americans from one generation to the next. The ugly truth is this, we did it to ourselves. We are the problem.
What about the solution?
The Solution is Internal – Back to Basics
The American way of life is a privilege, not a right.
It must be earned.
It must be purchased.
It must be protected.
Each generation must protect, purchase, and then earn,
in that order, to maintain its meaning through time.
The solution is to recover of the American way. I am not advocating the resurrection of the past. I am advocating for the resurgence of the distinctiveness that was described around the world as “American goodness.” I am advocating for the renewal of the fundamental nature of the American way of life. I am advocating for the American heritage as a freedom loving representative republic. I am advocating for the recognition of higher ideals that unite Americans and other peoples across all boundaries.
First, we must recognize the need for absolute truth, objective reality.
It is a fact that good and evil exist. You cannot have one without the other. Nor can you change the nature of one by calling it the other.
It is a fact that Americans are human beings endowed with inherent and transcendent value. This value is defined by our existence alone. Only the individual can surrender their value.
It is a fact that the honor code is always applicable. The American Code of Honor should be as follows, “I will not lie, steal, cheat, or tolerate those that do.” Regardless of circumstance, gain, or loss, this code is always applicable.
It is a fact that no one has the right to do what is wrong.
Second, we must secure the primacy of the individual over the collective. In other words, the rights of the citizen must be superior to the desires of the state.  American freedom and individual liberty have their worldly foundation in the idiom of “We the People” not “Them the Government”.
American Morals connect the citizen to what is objectively true.
·         An American’s worship is sacred
·         An American’s life is sacred
·         An American’s earnings from labor are sacred
·         An American’s wholly owned property is sacred
·         An American’s charity (personal generosity) is sacred
·         An American’s parent-child relationship is sacred
·         An American’s truthful statement is sacred
Third, we must embrace the American heritage and its uniqueness. The first duty of America is to answer our enemies without moral ambiguity. I can think of no better foundation for this duty than our heritage and its significance.
American Values connect the citizen to our collective heritage and uniqueness.
·         Americans value unity, not uniformity
·         Americans value justice for all, not “just us” for some
·         Americans value stewardship, not neglect
·         Americans value generosity, not welfare
·         Americans value liberty, not captivity
·         Americans value equal opportunity, not equal outcome
·         Americans value self-reliance, not public-dependence
Fourth, we must promote personal responsibility. It is the personal responsibility of every American citizen to steward and protect our constitutional representative republic.
Going Forward
The American way, may be currently misplaced, but it is not lost to time. It has not disappeared, but lies in a dormant state. It’s waiting for our call to awaken.
It’s time to act on what is right for the sake of doing what is good. It’s time to demonstrate the power of “We the People.” It’s time to act with the courage and conviction demanded by the honorable chapters of our past, both private and public. It’s time to step forward, own our circumstance, and do the work at hand.
Above all, it’s time to say with one voice, to those that mean to terrorize us, “You have gone too far. We are here to stop you.”
This is the American way.
