Take A Knee

What is the foundational
decision of good governance? It’s not a question of power, money, information,
or theater. It’s about getting the correct answer to just one question. What is
the right thing to do?
Sometimes leaders address
ethical or social issues with this question. In these cases it’s often prudent
to reference laws, customs and courtesies. Other times leaders are challenged
with societal, cultural and human value issues where there are no customs or
courtesies. Often times there is no law, the law that applies is not
sufficient, or there is little time to consider the options. At some point, getting
it right comes down to faith.
This is as applicable to world
leaders as it is to business leaders, family leaders, or just yourself. Because
America was intended to be a free nation, not a conformed nation, questions of
faith will always arise. So where do you place your faith?
Got Faith?
“It is impossible to rightly
govern a nation without God and the Bible.” – George Washington, President
“Sir, my greatest concern is not
whether God is on our side; my greatest concern is to be on God’s side, for God
is always right.” – Abraham Lincoln, President
“There is nothing wrong with
America that faith, love of freedom, intelligence, and energy of her citizens
cannot cure.” – Dwight D. Eisenhower, President
“But the separation of church
and state, although a fundamental principle to which I fully subscribe, was
never intended in my view to separate public morality from public policy.” –
Gerald Ford, President
“Throughout our history
Americans have put their faith in God and no one can doubt that we have been
blessed for it.” – Ronald Reagan, President
“Do I think faith will be an
important part of being a good President? Yes, I do.” – George W. Bush,
President
Going Forward
Faith is an inherent human need.
Whether you believe in God, science, the law, or yourself, sooner or later, it
all comes down to faith. Where do you place your faith?

“Tell me about the God you don’t
believe in. I probably don’t believe in him either.” – Rev. Forrest Church
