Stand-Up
Is it Time for a System
Restart?

Imagine you are at your desk, on the job, or just trying to
get something done. Now, your primary tool (a computer, instrument, or machine)
begins to not work quite as expected. Your tool develops a minor hiccup here
and there. You notice the problem, but it’s not that big of deal and you
continue working. Now there is an occasional hang-up, or it freezes for no
apparent reason. And, as if it can’t get worse, it stops working all together. Have
you been there? Me too. I bet each of us can think of a tool, or ten or more,
that behaved in this way. At some point you have to run a system diagnostic, to
clean out the junk and restart the system.
What if the same scenario applied to government? What if you
were pleased with the government until its hang-ups could no longer be
explained as hiccups? What if it routinely provided what was wrong versus
getting it right? What if the government simply stopped addressing its
business? Can you think of some examples? Perhaps of a gridlock, a one-person
“special” objection, a judgment, an order, or something else more close to you
and your home? I have a long list. I bet you may as well.
Congress
has an 82% disapproval rating
The
Supreme Court has a 50% disapproval rating
What if the answer was to restart the system? What might
that look like?
“Mankind are more disposed to suffer, while
evils are sufferable, than to right themselves by abolishing the forms to which
they are accustomed.” – Thomas Jefferson
System Restart!
If the primary tool for protecting the American way of life
is the right tool for the job, but it’s just not working well enough to get the
job done correctly, and prior resets have not solved the problems, then is it
time for a complete system restart? What might that look like?
What if anyone at the deputy under
secretary level and higher, without exception, is immediately terminated and
barred from any and all federal office or service of any kind?
What if any Senator or
Representative, including all staff members, without exception, beyond their
first term of service in any federal legislative body is immediately terminated
and barred from any and all federal office or service of any kind?
What if any Justice having served more
than two Presidential terms in any arrangement, including all members of staff,
without exception, is immediately terminated and barred from any and all federal
office or service of any kind?
Going Forward
The American system of government is a representative
republic. It’s not a democracy. It’s not an oligarchy. It’s not a theocracy.
It’s not a monarchy. It is a republic that governs according to the consent of
the People, not the desires of an executive or the decisions of a judge.
If you are as upset as I am with how the workers (elected
and appointed officials) are using our very expensive tool of choice (the
Constitution), then what are you willing to do about it?
Your View
If you could restart the system, then what is your solution?
I invite you to tell me what you believe at samfrescoe@gmail.com. I am looking
forward to addressing your comments and furthering our American discourse.
Thank you. – Sam Frescoe
